Berkshires Getaway

July 6-8, 2023

Music, art, beautiful scenery...and so much more!

Explore the Berkshires with PRIME TIME™ on July 6th – 8th and discover a world that not only exudes small town warmth and hospitality, and is also a treasure trove of culture and art.  Nestled in the rolling hills between New York and Boston, the Berkshires offers serene mountain vistas and world-class cultural attractions. Experience a unique combination of historic inns, fine dining and the arts (modern and performing), all set within the stunning scenery of the Berkshire Mountains

Day 1: After a morning departure, we’ll travel to the historic village of Shelburne Falls. Located just off the Mohawk Trail, this village was selected as one of the 100 Best Small Art Towns in America. After lunch at a landmark restaurant, there’s time to walk about the village and discover all the natural beauty, fine arts and unique shops. Shelburne Falls is also home to the Bridge of Flowers. The only one of its kind in the world, this former trolley bridge boasts over 500 varieties of annuals and perennials which bloom throughout the seasons.

Later, we’ll make our way to Stockbridge, the town made famous by Norman Rockwell. This afternoon, we check in to the Red Lion Inn, our home for the next two evenings. Celebrating 250 years, the Red Lion is the quintessential Berkshire hotel. In the evening, we’ll have dinner at the hotel (L, D).

Day 2: In the morning, we’ll enjoy breakfast at our hotel before we travel to the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown. One of the most beloved and respected art museums in the world, The Clark is known for its stunning natural surroundings and intimate galleries which feature European and American paintings, sculpture, prints and drawings from the Renaissance to the early 20th century.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Hancock Shaker Museum. The Shakers emigrated from England to America in 1774 and at their peak in the 1830s, some 300 Shakers lived at Hancock. Although the last Shakers left in the 1960s, the village now operates as a living museum. Following our guided tour, we’ll re-board the coach and return to Stockbridge. There’s free time to explore historic Main Street in this unique town which seems to have been frozen in time. Dinner will be at a local restaurant (B, L, D).

Day 3: The hills are alive with the sounds of Tanglewood! After breakfast, we’ll make our way to the famed summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The 524-acre grounds include Tanglewood Music Center and Seiji Ozawa Hall, two of the top ranked music halls in the world! Upon our arrival, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the grounds and learn the history of Tanglewood. Following the tour, we’ll settle into our seats to experience the creative process behind a BSO concert and learn how a performance transforms from a work in progress to a work of art. For today’s Open Rehearsal, Andris Nelsons conducts Brahms, Habibi and Montgomery featuring Julia Bullock, soprano and Hillary Hahn, violin. After the performance, we’ll depart for home … but first, we’ll make a stop for lunch at Mazzeo’s Ristorante (B, L).
